Crochet Pattern: Water Bottle Holder
Round 1: ch 4, 12 dc in forth ch from hook, sl st in top of beginning ch-4: 12 dc
Round 2: ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around, sl st in top of beginning ch-3: 24 dc
Round 3: (ch 4, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc) around, place marker: 8 sc
Round 4: (ch 4, sc in next ch-4 space) around: 8 sc

Repeat round 4, nine times or until water bottle holder is as tall as you desire, then finish off.

Strap
Start by chaining 120 or as long as you want your strap.
Row 1: ch 3, dc in forth ch from hook and in each ch across: 120 dc

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn (small amount)
Crochet Hook J (6.00 mm)               found the pattern here

My modifications:
I made mine with Bernat  cotton and a 5.50 hook
I made mine with short straps and a button closing for hanging on a purse or backpack strap.
I kept a water bottle handy and judged the size by fitting it on and off.  The amount of stretch in the yarn used with determine the number of rows you need.

I like it. I may need to give it a try.

Kelley note that in round 2 the chain 3 will count as the first double crochet to keep the count at 24.

I found your blog when I was doing a search for "probably likely" to see if the author I'm editing used them correctly (he didn't). It's lovely - I had almost forgotten the charm of an unpretentious, frequently-updated, day-to-day blog. It makes me think I need to update mine more often.

Nice to "meet" you, Elizabeth.
