Slaying the Dragon

I can do this. I can start my holiday stress free.

Begone packing dragon. Begone worry monster.

My sword: knowledge.

I have use of a washing machine so I don't have to try and get my whole closet into one suitcase.

I will be in a civilized place so there will be stores to buy anything I might forget.

I don't have to worry about language or currency.

I can sit down and weep, if necessary, and let Paul sort everything out.

....

In nine days time we will be settled into my niece's apartment in Victoria BC , starting five weeks of exploring, touring, eating out and generally playing tourist.

I think I've passed my "what if" panic and actually started to relax as our departure date approaches. I have my list of top tourist spots to see, I have my contact numbers all organized, I have started my pile of "must takes" set out in the spare room, a good portion of the laundry done and ready to pack, suspended my reserves at the library and sorted out all the bills that will need to be paid while we are gone.

I can do this I can do this I can do this.

Truth be told, as soon as the wheels retract and the plane takes to the air, all my stress falls away.

Oh, how I wish I were going to Victoria! We were there last summer and only got to spend a few hours before catching the boat back to Seattle. This, of course, was after a 2 week cruise through the San Juan Islands. I guess the best I can do is go back through my blog entries for last July and re-live the trip. Have fun!!
