Day 10 - to Chemainus

It's not a long drive out of Victoria to the Malahat Region. A steady climb and then a chance to get out and take a look. It was still hazy before noon when we arrived, so my photos didn't work as well as I had hoped but the area of our view took in the Saanich Peninsula we visited yesterday and we could just make out the airport.
That's Emily's car in the pull off. Highway 1 ( Trans Canada ) is at times a two lane and a three lane road in this area. Trees and rocks right beside you as you drive. Now and again the view opens and you can see mountain ranges, fertile valleys ( vineyards abound in this area ) and inlets of blue blue water.

We continued into Chemainus where we toured the shops, view the murals, ate lunch in front of the band shell listening to pan flute music of all things and saved little fang from a big black bear.

The only disappointing thing was dropping into Toad Hall Emporium and discovering it had nothing to do with Wind in the Willows other than being on Willow St.
