Canadian Thanksgiving

Turkey and stuffing, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts and a big slice of pumpkin pie covered in whipped cream to finish. at least that's what I have planned.

-------------------------

Saturday evening we went to Boo's Bistro Wine Bar for our anniversary dinner. It's a small place that I've had on my list of places to try. Thankfully I made a reservation, the place was packed. Not an empty seat in the house. Not a quiet place but the food was excellent and although busy there was no feeling of being rushed.
.
Paul had the specials, fresh thick tomato slices with Stilton cheese followed by a Thai dish of scallops and shrimps served over rice. The portions were generous and he said the spicing was just right.

I had the crab cakes served on a bed of tangy mayonnaise and then the tenderloin with Gorgonzola cheese. All crab in the cakes, no filler, and the steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare.

I was full but Paul made the mistake of asking about desserts and when he ordered the hot apple crisp with ice cream I found myself asking for the chocolate pate. Oh my ! A solid piece of melt in your mouth truffle smooth chocolate sitting in a dollop of raspberry sauce.

Last night we had BBQ loin steak with garlic shrimp and started the pumpkin pie.
Tonight is the turkey.

Tomorrow I think I might have to start dieting. Not getting to the gym is starting to show right around my middle and now that my chest is smaller my tummy seems more noticeable.
*laugh*

Happy Thanksgiving. Canada has chosen a much better day to celebrate the event. U.S. waits until the weather is rotten, travel is difficult and the harvest is LOoooong over. Now the day has become just an excuse to feed before SHOPPING for what used to be Christmas. The menu for your meal sounds wonderful. Now I'm hungry.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I keep thinking about your post with the acorn that I did not comment on. It was lovely.
Take Care. :)

Made me hungry just to read about your night out. Sounded so good!
So tell me....what prompted a Canadian thanksgiving? I mean, we celebrate pilgrims and their surviving their first winter here, etc. way back when...Is there a "reason" behind your celebration? Whatever the reason, hope your celebration was lovely. Some pumpkin pie and turkey sound awfully good to me right now...but over a month to go!
