While I was reading, Four Queens here , I was taken with the references to Matthew Paris and having googled him I discovered that his works had been translated and published. I wanted a copy. Yes people....I bought a book. I did try the library first and came up dry but with Stephen's help I put in a bid on eBay and the book has now been added to my small collection.
Continuing on a spending theme I can happily report that we have given the contractor the go ahead on the bathroom and I've written the deposit cheque.Today I went out and ordered a new light fixture for the kitchen. Deposit paid. For 34 years the same one has hung over the kitchen table and it's day is done. Paul dragged me off to the plumbing store yesterday to look at taps for the bathroom and on the way home took me into a new lighting store and I found one I liked. Really liked. Got it at a good price thanks to the 15% off coupon P. was smart enough to cut from the paper.
We finally have rain. I did water the tomato plants yesterday, once again refusing to believe the weatherman who has been so wrong so often these last few weeks. It started last night and has continued on and off all day today. Good for my lawn, bad for the Winona Peach Festival.

It finally rained here too (as you can tell by Tracy's posts) - feel the same way about the Gympie Country Music Muster as the Winona Peach Festival.
Of course you're not supposed to be profound. You probably have profound moments, but they're not likely to last too long. I really enjoy vicarious cooking. As long as I don't have to do too much of it myself.
I'll believe that your bathroom is finished when I see the photos, not before!
Hardly any rain in south eastern Australia though, Melbourne's dams are still dangerously depleted.

And, yes, I loved the cartoon too. It could apply to me in a more general sense as I always get bogged down in detail (I get it from my mother, I believe - my Dad always reckons when she is recounting something she starts from what she had for breakfast that day.)
But yes, there is photographic evidence of you and meals!! Which is ok, because, as you said, you share the recipes! And you make our mouths water!
That cartoon was priceless - loved it. Good luck witht ehbathroom reno, it is amazing what a difference a new bathroom can do. We did up the bathroom in our old Aussie place after vowing to do it for seven years, it made an unbelieveable difference - from dark, dreary and disgusting to light, bright and modern.
