http://strangemaps.wordpress.com/ Worth a visit. Long before I entered the world of blog someone somewhere put up this link and I finally remembered to move it into my 'blog' folder in favourites.
We are having hamburgers for supper tonight.....with white wine. A nice bottle of Pinot Grigio that we opened last night to have with trout. It's been a long time since the two of us can finish off a bottle with one meal.
My youngest sister is having to have her dog put down on Saturday. I am not a pet person and I try very hard to understand her sadness but I can't seem to get past the fact that she over-fed the dog, didn't walk him much, certainly didn't train him well and spent lots of time just yelling at him to stop barking. I am doing my best to understand, cause that's what sisters do.
My sister Catherine came through her brain surgery well. They didn't need to patch up her skull with metal, the bone removed fitted so nicely back into place, so no setting off alarms at airports for her. Good thing she wanted to get home, sent home on the 5th day. No hanging around in hospitals if you can walk, talk and breath.
Talked to my oldest sister in Alabama more this last week than I have in years. I'm not a good one to pass on medical information so now that Catherine is at home she'll call for first hand information and it had better be good....Margaret is an A-1 smart nurse.
If we don't get some decent weather soon I just might have to stand on my front porch and scream. Not likely to make a difference but I'll probably feel better.

I finally got round to checking out the strangemaps link. Really interesting!! Could spend a day reading up on all the stuff on it!
Loved the strangemaps link, many fascinating takes on the world. It also puts you well into perspective of how important you really are.
It's a pity that a family crisis is often the catalyst to bring us together. Hope everything goes really well with Catherine and the rest of the family next week.
Sorry to hear about your youngest sister's dog, it's always traumatic when you lose a pet.
Oh E, it'll be great when you don't feel you have to scream about the weather.
The truth behind family I think is the ability to come together when necessary and not suffer from the drift that happens so often.
Fog this morning. Temps to 11C, 50F and now some sunshine.
The snow didn't make it here from Kansas. Guess it didn't have the proper papers for crossing the border.
I can see that strangemaps site becoming addictive.
Hamburgers and wine...haha I love it! It's just the kind of thing I would do, like wearing jeans and pearls :)
I hear you about the pet thing...I am not a pet person either even though I grew up with them and cried my eyes out when they died. My mother's cat of 15 years just died and I try to be sensitive to the fact that she is in "mourning" but good lord that cat was a hissy, neurotic overweight thing. I never did see what she liked so much about it.
Your sister had brain surgery? Oh my. I'm glad it turned out well.
