Oh my it's a digital world

Twitter:
  1. To utter a succession of light chirping or tremulous sounds; chirrup.
    1. To speak rapidly and in a tremulous manner: twittering over office gossip.
    2. To giggle nervously; titter.

  2. To tremble with nervous agitation or excitement.


ETYMOLOGY:
Middle English twiteren, ultimately of imitative origin Not any more it seems.

Imitative: Copying another in an inferior or obsequious way: apish, emulative, slavish. See same.

SLAVISH - ADJECTIVE:
  1. Of or characteristic of a slave or slavery; servile: Her slavish devotion to her job ruled her life.
  2. Showing no originality; blindly imitative: a slavish copy of the original.

Jayne at Our Great Southernland somehow managed to blog about twittering the day before the above cartoon appeared in my paper. Next day there was an article about twittering and after much research ( I asked my son ) to explain it all to me I think I understand.

It's for people who always need to be connected. Sort of like walking down the street in a snow storm talking on your cell phone.

Twitter is just like the old MSN chatrooms ...but without the chatroom and only 140 characters to chat lol.

I guess I didn't understand twitter either...I was under the assumption that it was like Facebook, but I guess not. I did try facebook, but that definitely not for me. Still, I reconnected with some people through it (which was my purpose).

I fumble around in facebook Kathleen but twitter is something I don't need to add to my life.
