Elizabeth's kitchen tour

Jeanie in Paradise joined in on a 'show your kitchen' posting so I'm adding mine. You can link to others at her site.

The cupboards are original to the house, built in the 1950's. We painted and added new hinges and pulls, had the counters replaced, changed the lights and flooring and added the wainscoting.

This is the breakfast/lunch area as well as my all important computer station. I would like to add a nice bright fabric cushion on the bench (storage underneath) and matching ones on the chairs but I need to go fabric shopping and I need to find someone who sews. I like setting up my laptop here because it's near the fridge and the coffee maker.

...

Across from the table: If you need to know the recycling rules, find a coupon, want to know what appoints are coming up or what bills need paying when always check my fridge, it functions as my home office. The window over the sink gives me a view of the back yard and garden while peeling vegetables. Paul gets the view when he washes dishes.
I keep 2 canisters of ground coffee by my coffee maker....a regular blend for after lunch and a flavoured one for after supper. My current favourite is butter rum.

...

I love keeping fun items on the window shelves and there is usually a pot of thyme on the window sill. I need a fresh one.
The dish on the counter is my squash thawing for supper. ( it was delicious by the way )
The red on the end wall needs to be painted. Everything above the wainscoting used to be same in the rest of the kitchen. It got painted but I ran out of energy before completing the job. It's on my spring job list.

...

Opposite the stove: My microwave takes up lots of counter space but it still works so it stays. If it ever needs replacing I'll get a smaller one. There's a nifty pull out cutting board just under the counter.
The Glad poster on the wall was a gift from my mother in 1971 and was in our apartment kitchen before ending up here.
Just at the end of the top cupboard hangs my tissue box. Paul made a handy dandy holder out of a wire hanger so it doesn't have to sit on a counter and take up space.
The door leads to the side door of my house and to the basement.

I tend to be tidy but I always seem to be behind in dusting and doing floors.

I love your cupboards - ah, they don't like them like they used to.

Your microwave is very familiar - I think my mother still has hers!

Oh - and Elizabeth? To give you an excuse to ignore the floors, I have tagged you for a meme...

My kitchen is very similar and I'm always trying to ignore the dusting and mopping lol ;)

I've drunk beer in there, it still tasted the same...
